Emmanuel United Methodist Church is preparing for its annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser and needs help!
Details below...
Each year, the youth choir of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Memphis, TN hosts a pumpkin patch on the church lawn during the month of October as a fundraiser for the youth's summer mission trip. The pumpkins are grown on a Navajo Reservation near Farmington, New Mexico where they are loaded up onto a semi tractor trailer and brought to Memphis for unloading. There will be approximately 2500 full sized pumpkins plus dozens of boxes of smaller pumpkins and gourds on the trailer. Unloading is a huge job and requires at least 75-100 people for it to be a success. We love when our youth are able to bring their friends and classmates to help, and over the years I have been happy to sign for service hours to anyone who asked for it. This year, the "pumpkin truck" is scheduled to arrive at 9 AM on Saturday, October 1. The unloading usually lasts about 3 hours, but people are free to come and go according to their availability during those hours. The church is located at 2404 Kirby Road, and the pumpkins are unloaded on the western-most edge of our property. All are welcome. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
